Recommended fly fishing destinations, lodges and guides

One of the best things I can do for fellow guides and organizations that have helped me stay busy here in the Keys is to refer trips to them. The following is a list of my recommended guides, lodges and destinations.

Marco Island Fishing - Captain Kyle Giampaoli

Specializing in flats and fly fishing for tarpon, redfish and snook in the Naples / Marco Island area. Kyle is a seasoned guide from Montana who has the vigor to pursue fish day and night (yes really) plus the creative talents to tie new fly patterns that work for both saltwater species and freshwater trout. Grand Bahama Bonefishing - H20 Bahamas

Operating out of the Pelican Bay Resort in Lucaya, this bonefishing club is one of the best on the island. Greg Vincent and Jason Franklin have several skiffs available for pursuing bonefish, plus they have their share of permit and tarpon during certain times of the year. Packages are available for anglers, plus there is plenty to do in Lucaya for non-anglers. They also offer an offshore fishing program for yellowfin tuna and dolphin fishing. Islamorada Flats & Fly Fishing - Captain Steve Freidman

If double-digit bonefish are your dream, or fishing the Everglades for tarpon, redfish and snook, Captain Steve Freidman has the know how and patience for anglers of all abilities. [ Visit Islamorada Fly Fishing ]

 

Urban Angler - New York City

The go to shop in Manhattan, the Urban Angler has plenty to offer. Their recent addition of an online store Jfisheronline.com gives anglers a place to shop for everything they need for a fishing trip.

 

Baycaneer Resort - Mayaguana

Mayaguana is the perfect place to get away from it all and fish for some really big bonefish. Bring your wading shoes and your sense of adventure on this trip (and your bug spray). Ernell "Shorty" Brown is a tremendous host. The bar is self-serve, the meals are adequate and they do have cool A/C in the rooms! Long Island is one of our favorite places to just go relax and go fishing. After a long season of guiding, Long Island is remote enough where their is little fishing pressure. You do need a boat and a guide to get to the best flats on the east side of the island. Locksley Cartwright, an Irish Bahamian, is a perfect guide who works hard and has a great sense of humor. He is associated with Chez Pierre Bahamas, a quaint inn type lodging in Miller's Bay.
